CAFC Sides with Facebook in Patent Fight against Uniloc

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) has backed Meta Platforms, Inc., formerly Facebook, Inc., and its subsidiary WhatsApp, LLC against Uniloc 2017, LLC. CAFC upheld the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) ruling in telecommunications patent row that tossed various Uniloc’s Voice over Internet Protocol patent claims due to obviousness. CAFC ordered PTAB to reassess two other claims of Uniloc.
