EPO Permits Taking Evidence Virtually

The European Patent Office (EPO) will now be allowing the process of taking evidence in front of the office virtually. The decision was announced after the Administrative Council’s meeting and after amending Rules 117 and 118 EPC. The changes will be implemented from the 1st of January 2021 and evidence will be allowed to be taken online irrespective of whether oral proceedings are virtual or on the EPO premises.
