Facebook and Twitter Accused of Patent Infringement

Xerox Corp.’s subsidiary Palo Alto Research Center Inc. has accused Facebook Inc. and Twitter Inc. of patent infringement. A lawsuit has been filed with the US District Court for the Central District of California asserting infringement of patents belonging to Palo Alto. These include tools that the two companies use to stop spread of false news. The lawsuit also states that the patents in suit are used in the social media platforms’ core functionalities. The complaint by Palo Alto also mentions Snap Inc. as a defendant.
