Federal Judge Finds Patent Infringement Claim against Blackhawk Incorrect

The U.S. Magistrate Judge Roy S. Payne of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas has suggested dismissing the patent holder Alexsam Inc.’s infringement claims against Simon Property Group LP and Blackhawk Network Inc. The claims were regarding patent infringement related to debit card technology. The judge stated that several point-of-sale system changes that allegedly infringed the patents “fall outside of the scope of the asserted” patent claims.
