Former DARPA Employee Accepts Improper Patent Claim Accusations, Agrees to Settle Case

In response to a patent infringement lawsuit filed against an ex-employee of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), defendant Dr. Deepak Varshneya has accepted improper patent claims on property belonging to the US Government and has agreed to settle the lawsuit by paying $50,000 and surrendering the three patents in question. The Government had asserted that Dr. Varshneya had wilfully claimed patent protection for technology that belonged to the US Government despite being told not to do so while he was serving DARPA.
