Guidelines Released by EPO for VICO Opposition Hearings in 2021

A set of new guidelines have been announced by the European Patent Office (EPO) with regard to the opposition proceedings held by video conference (VICO) since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Two instructions released include the postponement of in-person opposition proceedings until the 15th of September 2021 and the non-requirement of consent from all involved parties in holding opposition proceedings, which will be implemented from the 4th of January 2021.
