BlackBerry Agrees to Sell Patent Asset to Catapult for USD 600 million

BlackBerry Limited, formerly known as Research in Motion Limited (RIM), will be selling its non-core patent assets to Catapult IP Innovations Inc. for USD 600 million. Patents include technologies related to mobile devices, wireless networking, and messaging. The payment includes a USD 450 million senior secured term loan and a USD 150 million promissory note. However, the deal is subjected to regulatory review, which could take up to 210 days.
