
More than 40% Chinese Patent Firms Filed Irregular Patent Applications, CNIPA Reports

The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) recently held an administrative guidance meeting with 14 provincial IP offices to focus on further regulating irregular patent application activity. During the meeting, the CNIPA revealed that a high proportion of irregular applications this year were filed through over 1,400 Chinese patent firms (out of a total of 3,253 Chinese patent firms in 2020), showing that 43% of all firms were involved in irregular patent applications.
