PTAB Accepts Apple’s Challenge to a Database Patent

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) has decided to review a database patent on challenge by Apple Inc. The challenger argues that numerous claims of the patent belonging to Sentius International LLP are invalid on the basis of obviousness due to prior art. Interestingly, Apple has been accused on infringement of the same patent with their ‘red squiggly’ line spellcheck feature.
