Separate Regulatory Program Planned by UK Government for Tech Companies

The UK Government has announced the approval of a Separate Regulatory Body – Digital Markets Unit to keep a tab on the technology companies like Google LLC, Facebook Inc. and others. The body will be housed in the antitrust regulator and will enforce a new code of conduct to regulate the decisions of tech giants. The move follows a petition by the Competition and Markets Authority that asked for additional powers to scrutinize the actions of major technology companies.
