The U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware dismissed the claims made by ABB Asea Brown Boveri Ltd. and Universal Robots to invalidate Northwestern University’s Cobot Patents. The judge found that technology is not abstract and patentable under the U.S. Supreme Court Alice v. CLS Bank ruling.

West Missouri Court Denies Petition by Voice Tech in Dispute over Voice Command Patents

The UK Court of Appeal Refuses to Accept AI as an Inventor

The Court of Appeal (UK) refused to accept an artificial intelligence (AI) machine as an inventor in UK. This comes as a critical judgement in a global battle over the technology. The appeals court stated that under British law, only an individual or individuals are allowed to be an inventor(s) and that an AI machine could not apply for patents for computer generated inventions.
