Diesel Technologies Sues Volvo Group over Exhaust System

Volvo Group North America LLC was hit with a patent infringement lawsuit by Diesel Technologies LLC in an Illinois Federal Court. The lawsuit is related to a part of the exhaust system involving diesel particulate filters of the internal combustion engine.

Acer Inc. has accused Volkswagen AG of infringing on its mobile network patents. As per the filed lawsuit, Acer had alleged that Volkswagen had only paid for licenses for 2G and 3G patents, and had largely installed mobile phone chips with 4G technology in the past two years. Volkswagen in its defence had stated the accusation as groundless.
PTAB rules Wildcat Licensing Patent as Unpatentable

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) found in an inter partes review (IPR) by Atlas Copco Tools and Assembly Systems LLC, General Motors LLC, Faurecia Automotive Seating LLC and Magna International Inc. that the claims of Wildcat Licensing WI LLC’s patent are apparent. The patent is related to an assembly system for monitoring proper fastening of an article of assembly at several locations. PTAB ruled that the patent claims are unpatentable as obvious over prior art.
Juniper Pleads CAFC to Overturn Gilstrap’s Refusal for Transfer

Juniper Networks Inc. has approached the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) to revoke a decision by U. S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap. The judge refused to transfer the Longhorn HD LLC’s patent infringement lawsuit against Juniper out of Texas. Juniper also requested the CAFC to reject the attempts from Longhorn to attain a two week delay in briefing deadlines.
IV Files Patent Infringement Suit against GM, Toyota and Honda over Network Patent

Intellectual Ventures (IV) has filed patent infringement lawsuits against General Motors Company (GM), Toyota Motor Corporation, and Honda Motor Company, Ltd. IV has accused the automobile manufacturers over the sale of cars with internet-equipped features that infringes IV’s network patent. IV has sued GM in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, and it sued Toyota and Honda in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on the basis of the venue of their business.
Court Signals Nikola to Proceed with Patent Lawsuit against Tesla

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California has approved Nikola Corporation to proceed further with its USD 2 billion patent infringement lawsuit against Tesla, Inc. The court has stated in a recent order that the case will stay “administratively closed”, not dismissed. The court has laid out two deadlines for January 2022 for Nikola.
