Avanci and Jaguar Land Rover Strikes Patent Licensing Deal

Avanci has entered a patent license agreement with Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC. According to the agreement with Avanci, Jaguar and Land Rover will obtain licenses to the 2G, 3G, and 4G essential patents of the 43 patent owners that participate in Avanci’s pool and also the patent owners that join Avanci later.
TCS Collaborates with AIS over IoT Solutions Based on 5G

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has started a partnership with a Thai telecom operator Advanced Info Service (AIS). Based on 5G smart network technology it aims to provide internet of things (IoT) solutions to manufacturers in the country. Mainly the partnership collaborates TCS’ portfolio of intellectual property and expertise in IT consulting and AIS’ telecommunications services in Thailand. The plan is to sell solutions to Thai enterprises directed at accelerating their growth and transformation using Tata’s 5G-enabled IoT offerings.
Amazon Wins against Swarm’s Claims in IoT related Patent Infringement Lawsuit

Amazon.com Inc. has won a case against Swarm Technology, which was claiming that Amazon’s “internet of things” interface infringed on their patents. A judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona found that the plaintiff’s patents on how to apply swarm intelligence to microchip processing covered abstract ideas.
Federal Court Finds Patent Asserted against Tile to be Invalid

The US District Court for the Northern District of California ruled that a decision involving a location tracking patent infringement lawsuit against Tile Inc. is abstract. The Californian judge presiding over the case dismissed Linquet TechnologiesInc.’s charge against Tile. The judge asserts that the idea of tracking and locating objects is abstract and not inventive.
CAFC Gives CalAmp a Favorable Ruling in Patent Case

The US Court of Appeal for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) vacated a lower court order against CalAmp in a patent infringement case that it lost along with the grant of a new trial. The court found that the lower court wrongly precluded CalAmp from presenting evidence on damages in the case brought by Omega over patents relating to the remote control of vehicles.
