Apple Fails to Reverse USD 300 Million Patent Verdict against it

Apple, Inc. could not reverse the USD 300 million patent infringement verdicts against it determined by federal jury’s trial. The company was found guilty of infringing on Optis Wireless Technology LLC‘s standard-essential 4G wireless patents. The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas rejected several arguments challenging the methodology used by Optis’ damages expert.
The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas has put on hold the IPCom GmbH & Co. KG ‘s lawsuit against AT&T Inc. related to cellular technology. The pause allows the companies to arrive at a resolution. The trial was about to begin in a week when the temporary halt came.
Ericsson Agrees to Strike a Deal in IPCom Suits against Wireless Providers

IPCom GMBH & Co. KG has agreed to put an end to patent infringement claims against AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc., and Sprint Spectrum LP related to their use of Ericsson Inc. equipment. The deal however doesn’t end claims related to non-Ericsson equipment.
Target Continues its Successful Run in Store App Patent Fight

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board(PTAB) ruled in favour of Target Corp. in store app patent fight with Proxicom Wireless LLC. The board invalidated 4 patents of Proxicom as they would have been obvious. Proxicom has alleged various features on Target app, including in-store shopping services infringe a total of 9 patents.
CAFC Overturns Court’s Ruling, Claims Validity of Wireless Transmission Patent

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit(CAFC) overturned a decision by the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware judge Leonard Stark. CAFC stated that the patent invalidated under Alice by Judge Stark is actually patent-eligible for improving computer technology. CAFC reversed the decision related to a patent by Mentone Solutions LLC’s packet data transmissions which was ruled that it is directed to the abstract idea of transmitting data at appropriate time slots.
CAFC Agreed to End Juniper’s Plea of Gilstrap Transfer Denial

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) has affirmed to end Juniper Networks, Inc. plea of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas judge’s ruling for keeping the patent dispute with Longhorn HD, LLC in Texas. Both parties have decided to end the litigation. CAFC approved the withdrawal of appeal.
