
Alterola Biotech Acquires Assets and IP from C2 Wellness

Alterola Biotech Inc. declared that it is purchasing assets from C2 Wellness Corporation. The scientific team of C2 invents and develops certain platform technologies and associated intellectual property (IP). Alterola purchased C2 for USD 12 million. The board of both the companies has agreed to the execution of the transaction. The assets will also comprise relationships with universities and numerous renowned academics along with the technology platforms and associated intellectual property.

CNIPA Discards Half Million Patent Applications as “Abnormal”

China’s National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) is striving to clear out the country’s patent system. In quality elimination, CNIPA flagged 545,000 patent applications as ‘abnormal’. A large number of Chinese patent filings were restrained and the owners were given an opportunity to take back the applications or present evidence that they are legitimate.

China to Double the number of Foreign Patents Granted Annually, Releases 14th Five Year Plan Notice on IP

The 14th Five Year Plan Notice of National Intellectual Property Protection and Utilization Plan was released by the China’s State Council. The main objective of the IP plan is to double the number of foreign patents granted annually and by increasing the number to double of “high-value” patents per 10,000 people. China is planning to achieve this goal by 2025.

U.S. Senate Nominates Lucy Koh for 9th Circuit

The panel of the U.S. Senate has proceeded with the nomination of Judge Lucy Koh to serve the U.S. Court of Appeals of the Ninth Circuit. It was decided despite the Republican objections to a decision she wrote during the pandemic that allowed California to restrict religious gatherings.

Facebook, Inc. has appealed the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit for an en banc rehearing in an intellectual property (IP) suit with a Philadelphia-based journalist Karen Hepp. Facebook has insisted on the reinstitution of a lawsuit with Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act appealing the split panel’s ruling.
