USPTO Set to Enhance Patent Diversity and Inclusion

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is ready to enhance patent diversity and inclusion under the Inventor Diversity for Economic Advancement Act (IDEA Act). USPTO will collect voluntarily provided information on “gender, race, military or veteran status, and any other demographic category related to each inventor listed with an application for patent” as suggested in the act. The data will aid in strategizing ways and encouraging diverse inventorship.
