LYCRA’s Denim Patent Gets a Nod from Chinese IP Authorities

The Chinese National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) has ruled win to the Lycra Company against the Chinese third parties over infringing LYCRA’s dual core and multi-core patents for denim. CNIPA has upheld LYCRA’s patents in two disputes. The ruling will protect LYCRA’s patents and trademarks from worldwide infringement.
Irregular Patent Applications Should be Fined up to 150,000 RMB, Proposes Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress

The Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress has released “Several Provisions on the Establishment of a High-level Intellectual Property Protection System” in Pudong New Area, Shanghai. As per the release, the article 6 has suggested an increment in punishment and penalties for the filing of irregular or abnormal patent applications and malicious trademark applications to RMB 150,000 and RMB 50,000 respectively along with warnings. The Congress has laid the provision for intellectual property (IP) protection by increasing the punitive damages for wilful infringement along with penalties for repetitive infringement.
Europe and Morocco Partnered in Patents, Trademarks and IP

Moroccan Trademark Office and European Patent Office have partnered on the Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC). This transparent and balanced global patent classification system will be beneficial to all the stakeholders including users and innovators. Acquiring CPC system will improve the modernization of tools and processes. The CPC which is an extension of International Patent Classification (IPC) will strengthen patent data exchange, IT capacity building and get in touch to local innovators. With the increase in foreign investors and global companies, the number of patents validations in Morocco will grow in coming years.
Toshiba Transfers SunLike’s Business and Patent Rights to Seoul Semiconductor

Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd. has announced the completion of a transfer of business and patent rights from Toshiba Materials Co., Ltd., for the technology that they jointly developed. Seoul Semiconductor now holds the rights to SunLike and the transfer of the intellectual property is made for agility and efficiency in business operations.
Techtronic Accuses Snow Joe of Patent Infringement

Techtronic Industries Company Limited has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Snow Joe LLC. The plaintiff alleges infringement of three of their patents with the defendant’s power tools and battery packs. Techtronic has urged the court to award damages along with an injunction over further infringement.

Neuropathix, Inc. has formed a wholly owned subsidiary, Dermique Incorporated for its over-the-counter (OTC) cosmeceutical intellectual property. The new subsidiary will hold, manage, commercialize, and market all the intellectual property assets relating to the OTC cosmeceutical ingredients. The IP given to Dermique includes patent, trademarks, know-how and other assets.
