USPTO Unveils Pilot Program to Fast-track Appeals of Rejections for COVID-19 Inventions

The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has announced the launch of a pilot program aiming to fast-track appeals of rejections on applications for COVID-19 related inventions. No charge will be levied for filing a petition for an invention that has approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Oral hearings will be accelerated with the help of the pilot program and any hearing that is scheduled under the program will not be re-scheduled.
