
Samsung and Ancora Settle Patent Dispute Ahead of Trial

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Ancora Technologies Inc. have reached a settlement in a patent infringement lawsuit. The companies have requested the US District Court for the Western District of Texas to halt claim and counterclaims ahead of the case moving to trial so that they can work out the details of case dismissal. However, LG Electronics is not part of the settlement involving a patent for mobile security technology.

Nomadix Triumphs in Patent Infringement Suit at Canadian Court

The Federal Court of Canada has cleared Nomadix, Inc. of patent infringement charges brought in a lawsuit by GuestTek Interactive Entertainment Ltd. The plaintiff had accused Nomadix of infringing on two patents relating to network security and bandwidth management.

Plaintiff Awarded More Than $24.6 Million in Patent Royalty Dispute

Cybersecurity firm Vir2us Inc. has been successful in winning a $24.6 million award in a patent royalty dispute with Sophos Inc. The US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia awarded the compensation to the plaintiff for disputed patent royalty payments which rose from a settlement agreement.

Palo Alto Accused of Infringing on Network Security Patents

A patent infringement lawsuit has been filed with the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia against Palo Alto Networks, Inc. The plaintiff Centripetal Networks Inc. has accused Palo Alto of infringing on 12 of their network security patents. Centripetal seeks to get a damages award and an injunction order to stop the defendant from infringing their IP further.

Cisco’s Appeal for New Trial Rejected

Cisco Systems Inc.’s appeal for a new trial in a patent damages case has been rejected by the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Cisco was found infringing on four of Centripetal Networks Inc.’s patents and was ordered to pay damages worth USD1.9 billion, which the latter found to be ‘devoid of economic reality’

CAFC Affirms PTAB’s Patent Invalidity Ruling in Favour of Apple

The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) has ruled in favour of Apple Inc. as it affirmed a patent invalidity ruling by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). The board invalidated two of VirnetX Holding Corp.’s patents challenged by Apple and the court declined a revision of the ruling ahead of the trial in a patent infringement case involving the same patents.
